Welcome to Frederick Reads

Frederick Reads is a collaborative effort among Frederick County Public Libraries and local organizations to foster a love of reading within the community. With its inaugural event held in 2006, Frederick Reads was spearheaded by City of Frederick Alderwoman Marcia Hall, who formed the organizing committee.

Our Mission
Frederick Reads aims to foster a love of reading within the community.

Our Objectives
Engage all the citizens of the community by choosing titles that both entertain and inform.

Encourage pride in the community by celebrating books with regional interest.

Encourage the exchange of ideas by providing forums for discussion.

Provide an enjoyable community event that draws together the support of local schools, government, businesses and libraries.

One Maryland One Book
The 2011 selection for One Maryland One Book is The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. To celebrate this occasion Sherman Alexie will be appearing at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on September 23, 2011. See Upcoming Events for more information.
